Audrain Humane Society is not connected to the Mexico Missouri Animal Shelter, although we do support the shelter and its staff. The shelter is city run, funded by the city, with employees paid by the city and bound by city policies.

  • We are local people helping local animals.


  • Our vision is to reduce the number of homeless and unwanted cats and dogs in our community.


  • We work to promote humane treatment of animals through education for responsible pet ownership and reduce pet overpopulation in the community and assist with finding suitable homes for homeless pets.

How to help the Audrain Humane Society


There are many ways to help the Audrain Humane Society:


  • Adopt a pet: Adopting a pet from the Mexico Animal Shelter or AHS Pet Pals Foster/Adoption Program is a great way to give a homeless animal a loving home and save a life.
  • Donate: Audrain Humane Society relies on donations to operate. You can make a financial donation online or by mail.
  • Volunteer: Audrain Humane Society always needs volunteers to help with various projects. There are many different volunteer opportunities available, so you can find something that fits your skills and interests.
  • Responsible Pet Ownership: Please spay or neuter your pets.

Audrain Humane Society offers a variety of services, including:


  • Lost and found animals: Audrain Humane Society posts pictures of lost and found animals to help reunite them with their owners. If you have lost a pet, you can contact the Audrain Humane Society to post a picture and a message about your missing pet.
  • Educational programs: Audrain Humane Society offers a variety of educational programs to the community, including responsible pet ownership classes and humane education programs for children.
  • Adoption: Audrain Humane Society posts pictures and information of animals available for adoption at the Mexico Animal Shelter and animals available for adoption in the AHS Pet Pal’s Foster/Adoption Program. All animals are spayed or neutered and vaccinated before they are adopted.
  • Surrender services: If you are unable to care for your pet, you may contact Audrain Humane Society to see if there is an available foster thru AHS Pet Pal’s Foster/Adoption Program.
